Peak & Off-Peak Rates

Some utilities charge more for electricity during peak demand hours — typically evenings and early mornings — and less during off-peak hours overnight. EVnSteven lets you set different rates for peak and off-peak periods, so you can pass those savings along to residents who charge at the right time, or simply recover your actual costs more accurately.

For buildings with limited electrical capacity, off-peak rates are also a practical way to spread charging demand across the day. Residents who aren’t in a rush have a financial reason to plug in at midnight instead of 6pm — which reduces strain on your building’s electrical system without any enforcement on your part.

Not every building needs this feature. If your utility charges a flat rate, a single price works fine. But if you’re on a time-of-use plan, peak and off-peak rates let you run your charging program at cost — or even a small margin — without leaving money on the table or overcharging residents during cheap hours.
