How I got here
I’ve spent my working life in software — writing it, shipping it, and running the three companies I’ve owned. That part is straightforward.
The part people don’t expect is the three years I spent managing a 33-storey condominium tower in Yaletown. I sat in the council meetings. I read the bylaws. I dealt with the budget, the contractors, and the resident who wanted something fixed by Friday. I know what it costs a building to say yes to something new.
Years later I was living somewhere else, with an electric car and nowhere sensible to charge it. A few of us shared one outlet and coordinated by text message. Nobody could say who used how much electricity, and the building had no fair way to bill for it. The proper fix — metered charging hardware — costs thousands of dollars, and nobody wanted to spend it.
I couldn’t find software that solved this, so I built it. Check in, check out, and the billing works itself out. No new hardware. That’s EVnSteven.
What that means for you
I’m not a salesperson, and EVnSteven isn’t right for every building. If it isn’t right for yours, I’ll tell you — that’s a better use of both our time than a pitch.
